WSP’s Visualization and Data Intelligence (VDI) 50-person national practice works on mission-driven professional services / consulting projects. VDI is a dynamic creative and results-oriented in-house design and technology innovation team supporting Future Ready projects that are shaping our communities. We focus on the intersection of visual communication and technology and our creatives and technologists of different disciplines regularly collaborate to deliver multifaceted visual products for our clients. WSP’s VDI practice is currently initiating a search for a Junior/Associate Consultant Graphic Designer based in either WSP’s Denver/Lakewood, Seattle, Buffalo, or Chicago office locations. Other locations within the U.S. may be considered based on the candidate. This is a hybrid position with an initial in-office orientation expectation. As part of the team, you will work on multiple concurrent projects of varying levels of complexity for projects of both short- and long-term duration, in close collaboration with colleagues and clients. The workload is fluid and is driven by our client schedules and unique requirements. Our successful candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced and exciting consulting environment. VDI graphic designers are expected to maintain knowledge of and proficiency with the latest technologies and trends in the graphic design environment and are given support to research and employ new software technology and design/development techniques.

Your Impact

  • Create highly polished original designs and visual solutions in support of national-level projects for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assist other VDI graphic designers in developing a variety of graphic design solutions. You will generally be working under the supervision of other designers.
  • Collaborate with other VDI design professionals to develop tailored, multi-disciplinary creative solutions that meet project needs.
  • Participate in consultations with WSP peers and subject-matter experts on design process and the most effective solution for their communication challenge.
  • Participate in coordination with WSP peers and subject-matter experts to interpret complex technical information and develop simplified graphics and visuals that communicate those concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Work on several projects in parallel, with the expectation that priorities may shift and that you will receive help adjusting to those changed priorities.
  • Forge and grow relationships within WSP to continue to generate project work.
  • Coordinate with the Graphic Design Group Lead and your designer mentor on your schedule and design efforts to ensure consistently high-quality design products and that deadlines are met.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • A design portfolio of relevant professional work with your role and contributions clearly identified for each example. No application will be considered without a portfolio and clear role explanations.
  • Either a bachelor's degree in graphic design and 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience, or an associate degree in graphic design or a closely allied design field and 2-5 years of progressively responsible graphic design experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and regular use of the Adobe Creative design suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of expected graphic design skills, including design process, color theory, composition and layout, typography, resolution and image management, copyright, and use of intellectual property (IP), digital and traditional publication, print pre-production, and coordination with professional printing services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and regular use of Microsoft Office 365, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in supporting and being part of design teams as required by the project.

Your application will be more successful of you have:

  • Previous experience working in AEC/professional services consulting.
  • Proficiency in at least one other design realm: Figma and UI/UX design; Premiere Pro and video production; After Effects and motion graphics; CommonLook and accessibility remediation.
  • A strong familiarity with architectural or engineering design, including designing to scale, dimensioning, designing construction details.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as a photographer or videographer.
  • Proficiency designing for accessibility and Section 508 compliance.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $70,000 - $80,000
