Position Description

We are seeking year-long internship candidates with human factors, UX research, interaction design, UX design, and/or industrial design background for our Cardiac Rhythm Management Human Factors and User Experience group located in Mounds View, MN. The internship can be completed fully remote and does not require relocation to Minnesota. This paid internship is a temporary position and will cover a period of 12 months, with a start date of June 2025. Interns work with human factors engineers, UX researchers and designers on projects both on-site and in clinical field settings.

Responsibilities

  • Support user-centered design activities such as customer needs identification, user profiles definition, task analysis, user interface design, use error analysis, usability testing, and post-launch outcomes analysis.
  • Participate in user interface design and prototyping activities for products under development.
  • Communicate ideas and concepts visually.
  • Help design and conduct field studies of end users, their tasks, and use environments, to support product definition, concept development, and detailed design.
  • Design and conduct usability assessments of products under development. Assist in the analysis and reporting of test results.
  • Assist in task analysis to determine potential causes of and mitigations for use errors in products being developed.
  • Support meetings and visits with internal field personnel and external customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD degree in a related discipline

such as Human Factors, Ergonomics, Design, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

  • Able to commit to a full-time role for 12 months, starting in June 2025.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of human factors design principles.
  • Openness to learn applied human factors and interest in medical devices domain.
  • Experience designing and conducting usability studies and/or field research.
  • Knowledge of usability and user interface design methodologies and principles.
  • Experience designing for web, mobile, and desktop apps.
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Axure, or similar tools for generating prototypes.
  • Ability to execute task design concepts and integrate form and function into product designs.
  • General knowledge of statistics and statistical data analysis techniques and tools.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% of time).
