Junior Visual Designer

Mail Shark’s marketing department has an opening for a Junior Graphic Designer position. The Junior Graphic Designer is responsible for creating brand-related materials, digitally as well as for print. The Designer’s goal is to use best practice, solid design, consider user requirements, and develop visually capturing designs across all digital and physical spaces (web, email, mobile, print etc.) for the marketing department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designing and assisting with digital and print marketing assets including web pages, mobile app design/ development, general advertising, basic gif animation, email blasts, social media campaigns, brochures, postcards, and interactive displays.
  • Work closely with other team members to meet deliverables on projects. 
  • Maintain Mail Shark’s design systems for consistency and ongoing improvement across all consumer and associate experiences. Brand consistency needs to remain at the forefront.
  • Organization and prioritization of short and long-term deliverables, to meet deadlines
  • Assist team with projects as assigned

  • Strong design portfolio
  • Comfortable with feedback and juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; not afraid to ask questions
  • A positive problem-solver that’s organized, detailed and collaborative yet delivers individual impact
  • Ability to handle multiple timelines and switch between tasks to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills (you should be able to clearly articulate your design/coding decisions)
  • Ability to work well in a team setting



Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability

No mathematical skills required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Internet applications, and miscellaneous programs as needed.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in design or related field
  • Experience with all Adobe applications
  • Basic knowledge in user experience design
  • Web and Interactive design experience
  • Understanding of layout concepts and information gathering for best design output
  • Proficient in Photoshop, illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficiency with Office 365
  • Basic knowledge of print design
  • Proficient with photo retouching, manipulation and color correction skills

 

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities

  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript methodologies a plus
  • Maintain base fluency in Adobe Creative Suite  
  • Develop strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues
    across the organization, as well as internal and external stakeholders
