UX Design Intern - Undergraduate

United States, Aliso Viejo: this position must be performed in a hybrid capacity out of the SIE-PlayStation Aliso Viejo, CA office.

About the Team:

The PlayStation Partner Platform supports the submission of product metadata, game content, sales, and promotional information necessary to publish PlayStation software. We strive to aid all PlayStation game developers and publishers in delivering their content to consumers as efficiently and swiftly as possible.

On PlayStation Partners' Publishing Team, we work on the tools that enable submitting product metadata, game content, sales, and promotion information required to publish PlayStation products. We aim to support all PlayStation game developers and publishers, getting their content to the consumers with as little effort and time as possible.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Hands-on, creative problem-solving in a cloud-driven enterprise software system.
  • Work with a multi-disciplined UX team of designers, user researchers, and product managers in a fast-paced, dynamic, agile environment.
  • Produce design deliverables that communicate design solutions and facilitate discussion.
  • Demonstrate a passion for iteration and eagerness to receive feedback.
  • Generate interactive Figma prototypes to enable project teams, stakeholders, and users to understand and navigate proposed solutions.
  • Analyze and evaluate current user interfaces and propose usability improvements.
  • Use various iterative design methods, including sketches, process flows, wireframes, and interactive simulations/prototypes, to drive thoughtful design decisions.
  • Solve complex design problems through a user-centered design (UCD) process that accounts for user goals, business requirements, and development needs.
  • UX support for projects in progress. This may include design layouts, user flows, analytics, testing, etc.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic intern eager to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and program management. By joining our team, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to impactful projects while being guided by experienced mentors.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program from an accredited institution, with an expected graduation date by Spring 2026.
  • 1-2 years of academic or industry experience in user experience design, including creating site maps, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and detailed design annotations.
  • Proficiency with UX software, including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Basic understanding of interaction design, usability best practices, responsive design, and service design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete assignments on time.
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a cross-functional team.

Portfolio Requirements:

An online portfolio that demonstrates your end-to-end design process, including sketches, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. Portfolio projects that demonstrate experience in at least two of the following areas:

  • Information Architecture
  • Wireframing
  • User journey mapping
  • Service blueprints
  • Prototyping
  • User research
  • User testing
  • Clearly stated roles and impacts on projects.
  • Explanations and visuals are needed to communicate the story effectively.
  • Context and key takeaways from your projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • A positive and resilient personality with a strong ability to embrace feedback and a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
  • An analytical and strategic mindset.
  • Flexibility to work with geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Passion for user-centered design and a keen interest in staying up-to-date with the latest UX trends and best practices.

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$36.50 - $36.50 USD
