ABOUT MAKING WAVES EDUCATION FOUNDATION

At Making Waves, we are committed to educational equity. Making Waves Education Foundation is a Bay Area nonprofit that supports Making Waves Academy – a public charter school with more than 1,100 5th through 12th grade students – and leads college and career programming with more than 430 college students.

Centering historically underrepresented and underserved students and their college and career journeys, Making Waves Education Foundation helps make college affordable and graduation attainable. We partner with students to meet their dreams with personalized support – including college and career coaching, scholarships, and college financial planning. Our alumni network includes more than 730 college graduates, who earn their degrees and land jobs at more than twice the rate of their peers, with 85% graduating from college debt-free.

ABOUT THE PAID INTERNSHIP

Making Waves Education Foundation’s college and career program provides need-based scholarship funding, one-to-one college and career coaching, and financial planning support for first-generation, low-income, students of color in the Bay Area.

Our internship program provides an opportunity for college students to gain:

  • Paid, hands-on work experience in a supportive and accessible (remote) work environment
  • Exploration and learnings across a range of administrative projects
  • Career development support and reflections with Making Waves career specialists
  • Exposure to other fields and networking opportunities across Making Waves

Interns are members of the Making Waves College and Career team and will gain experience in the non-profit and education fields, working on a variety of projects related to Making Waves program growth and success. These roles are paid, part-time, non remote roles for current college students in California. More information is below:

  • Pay: An hourly rate of $18-$21 based on experience. In line with our commitment to equity, fairness, and transparency, we have adopted a no salary negotiation policy. We understand the historical inequities created by salary negotiations and believe in offering a starting salary that is fair and grounded in evidence collected during a clear, competency-aligned hiring process.
  • Remote work: This role can be 100% remote based in California. The Foundation supports interns with successfully working remotely
  • Internship credit: This can be used for internship credit depending on your interest and academic program requirements.
