Position Title: Web Designer (Stipend Position)
Job Goal: To enhance the online presence and user experience of the school district's website, ensuring it serves as a comprehensive, engaging, and user-friendly platform for students, parents, staff, and the community.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in web design and development tools and content management systems
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices to ensure the website is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and understand their needs for website design and functionality.
- Ability to create engaging and user-friendly interfaces that align with the school district's brand and communication goals.
- Experience with responsive design principles to ensure the website functions well on a variety of devices and screen sizes.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to website design, functionality, and performance.
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Schools and/or designee
Evaluator: Assistant Superintendent of Schools and/or designee
Compensation: Per an agreement between the Avon Board of Education and the Web Designer.
Work Year: Outside of current work hours by mutual agreement between the Avon Board of Education and the Web Designer.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Website Design and Development: Create and maintain visually appealing and user-friendly web designs for the school district's website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
- Web Accessibility: Ensure that the website meets accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure equal access and usability for all users, including those with disabilities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, and parents, to understand their needs and requirements for the website's design and functionality.
- User Experience Design: Implement user-centered design principles to create intuitive and engaging user interfaces that enhance the overall user experience on the website.
- Responsive Design: Develop responsive web designs that work seamlessly across a variety of devices and screen sizes to ensure a consistent user experience.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to website design, functionality, and performance to ensure the website runs smoothly and meets user expectations.
- Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to web design and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- District Style Guide: Create a style guide that governs the "look and feel" of all District websites. Provide training for other staff who are required to maintain website content.
